As a women’s self-empowerment coach I spend a lot of time showing women the various ways that they exert their own power to create situations in their lives. Sometimes we create some ‘not so desirable’ situations to deal with. At other times we can feel as though we’ve won the magical life lottery.

The fantastic, fun and amazing parts are equally included as well as the ‘not so desirable’ situations. Wait, what? Yes, you read right. We need those not so good times and sometimes down right sucky times to show us how amazing we truly are!

Do you remember when you were learning how to ride a bike for the first time? I remember the color of mine, the streamers and very little of the falling down part. What I do remember with great clarity is the first time I rode that bike down the hill without falling. I still remember the excitement of it.

The sound of my mom, her boyfriend and my sister cheering me on still rings in my ears as I remember that day. Do you think that day of triumph would have held the amount of excitement and joy if I’d just picked it up and rode it? Wasn’t part of the exhilaration for you too, because you had tried and tried and then finally mastered it?

How many times have you heard others or even you yourself said, it was crazy, it was hard it was………. But I wouldn’t have had it any other way? When we are secure in our outcome all the craziness seems almost as though it was a good thing. It certainly makes for better story telling!

You can’t quit on yourself. When you quit you are left with what appears to be failure. Then you beat yourself up over it from every angle. You may go on for days asking yourself why you even tried it, why you didn’t do blank or why you did do blank. Eventually you will even question why you stopped doing what you recently said you shouldn’t have even done to begin with. We can make ourselves absolutely crazy and feel miserable as well.

The definition for fail is, to be unsuccessful in achieving one’s goal. It seems pretty obvious to me but here’s a little secret for you; you will have success if you stay the course. It may not always look the way you thought it would. But it’s there. I promise you the days get brighter and better when you believe in you.

Know that you are such a force of nature you cannot be denied as long as you believe in you and are willing to keep at it for as long as it takes. I know this about you. I’m certain of it! “There’s no such thing as a failure who keeps trying.” This is from Blues Travelers song Just Wait.

Over the next few weeks to come I’ll share some of my own stories with you. Some are funny as hell, some insightful and some sad and then happy. But they are all authentic. That is for sure.

Have you met with seemingly insurmountable odds before and come out on top? Have you ever gotten to the point where you just had to give up because you were exhausted and in serious doubt? How did the situation look for you?

Did you have any hindsight thoughts leave a comment below or even shoot me an email at lucinda@lucindasmith.com if you prefer. I look forward to hearing from you.
